Founded by theater professor Anne Basting in 1996, TimeSlips uses improvisation and creative drama techniques to help adults with Alzheimer's and dementia tell imaginative stories to communicate and connect with families and care providers. Now based at the University of Milwaukee's Center on Age & Community, the project  has trained over 2,000 facilitators around the world; spread its method to many facilities and organizations; created a service learning program for students in high school, college, and medical school; put on plays and art exhibits based on the stories; and created a website with free, custom storytelling software.  There are now over 2,000 stories on the TimeSlips.org web site (owned by TimeSlips LLC).
